S2 Vibro-impact Construction Project of the Karnaphuli River Tunnel in Chittagong, Bangladesh
[Overview] On February 19, 2022, the construction of the S2 section of the vibro-stone columns for the Kanapuri River bottom tunnel in Chittagong, Bangladesh, which lasted for 3 months, was successfully completed.

On February 19, 2022, the S2 section of the Kanapuri River bottom tunnel in Chittagong, Bangladesh, completed its vibro-stone column construction after three months.
The Kanapuri River bottom tunnel is located at the mouth of the Kanapuri River in Chittagong, Bangladesh. This project is situated in the alluvial delta region at the river's mouth, where the geological formations mainly consist of Quaternary alluvial cover layers. It is located in an earthquake-prone area. The vibratory method used to treat the foundation causes soil particles to rearrange, quickly dissipating excess pore water pressure. The stone columns form drainage channels, significantly improving the foundation's liquefaction resistance. A 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred during construction further highlighted the liquefaction resistance performance of the vibratory method foundation treatment.
This project is a collaboration between our company and the China Communications Construction Second Harbor Engineering Bureau, providing them with vibratory equipment and a professional vibratory construction team.
The project utilized a 130kW vibratory hammer manufactured by our company. The total project volume was 13,483 linear meters, with a pile diameter of 1m, pile spacing of 2m, and pile depth ranging from 21.4-23.5m.

Here, we extend our gratitude to the engineering workers who persevered during the pandemic.
