Vibro-compaction

Vibro-compaction relies on the strong vibration of the vibrator to liquefy the saturated sand layer, allowing the particles to rearrange and reduce the void ratio. Simultaneously, the horizontal vibration force of the vibrator creates vertical holes, into which fill materials are added, compacting the sand layer.

Application scope: Suitable for sandy soils and clayey soils with silt content less than 10% and particle sizes smaller than 0.005mm.

Vibro-replacement

The principle is to replace soft soil with materials such as sand and gravel, forming a composite foundation with the un-reinforced part to improve the foundation strength. Vibro-replacement (or stone column method): The stone column method utilizes a single percussion head, injecting high-pressure water while sinking to create a hole, then filling it with gravel while compacting to form a stone column. The column and the original clay soil form a composite foundation to improve the bearing capacity and reduce settlement.

Application scope: Suitable for foundations such as silt, silty clay, sand, silty sand, clay, and artificial fill where the undrained shear strength of the foundation soil is greater than 20kPa. Caution is required when using stone columns for soft soil foundations with undrained shear strength less than 20kPa.
